Educational Cup of Tea | When a New Resource Sprouts Right In Front of You

For the first newsletter I sent out to teachers in 2024, I wanted to share information on Motivation to see how they could pump students back up for learning during the second semester. While clicking through many recommended videos, I came across Sprouts on YouTube.

I found this video fun and informative. It wasn’t too long and worked as a resource I could share. Plus, it seemed student friendly in terms of explanation and animation. Immediately, I went to their channel to see what else they had available.

The entire channel is filled with videos explaining everything from personality types to philosophies to pedagogy and learning theories. I looked into the company and found they were on Patreon (if you want to support their efforts) as well as part of a larger mission through Sprouts Schools.

Regardless if you want to support them monetarily or partner with them, I recommend checking out the videos on their YouTube Channel. These videos make great hooks for lessons as well as excellent ways to help students learn big concepts in a manageable way.

Activity Idea

As an educator, I am drawn to the pedagogy videos. They are accessible refreshers on the different theories I remember studying long ago. I’ll be honest – I don’t remember learning The Feynman Technique, but now I will look for opportunities to follow the process when learning something new.

I did notice most of the videos are a few years old which is usually a deterrent when I want more recent resources. However, many of the concepts are timeless so the video are still relevant years later.

If you don’t see a video on a topic you are interested in, you can make suggestions for what concepts are made into video next by visiting the Sprouts Schools Suggest a New Topic Page.

I subscribed to the channel and look forward to using these videos more often. I hope you find them useful as well.
