As I looked over the past week, I realized how much I still had left to do before work started back up on Monday. I rested. I ate. I enjoyed the downtime. However, as with most vacation breaks, I could have done with a couple extra days before heading back.
One of my goals for the break was to dust off some writing skills and refresh my professional blog. Don’t misunderstand, working on my dissertation means I am writing A LOT. What I miss is the more casual sharing of observations and insights in the daily adventures of working in education. Instead of dusting off my previous professional blog, I decided I need a completely new look.
The perfectionist in me strugeled for a bit deciding what this new look would be. I needed something that made it clear what this blog would cover while sharing a bit of my personality. Then it struck me as I enjoyed my morning cup of chai – TEA! I LOVE tea. Not to mention the ole saying of something being “my cup of tea.” The insights I share will discuss topics that may or may not be my cup of tea. Additionally, anyone who reads my blog may find the topics their cup of tea…or not. An Educational Cup of Tea was born!
I wanted a clean look with a pop of color and something cute. It turns out Etsy is a great place to find exactly that. I found PrettyWildBlogDesign and she did a phenomenal job! Whatever I saw in my mind she brought to life! With the blog ready to go, I just needed to get to writing.
I have some ideas listed to cover the first few posts, and I am certain more will avail themselves. Initially, I saw different types of tea matching different topics I would cover: black tea – leadership, green tea – professional learning, white tea – instructional coaching, loose leaf – digital tools, etc. I don’t think I can get a hold of enough different types and blends for regular posting. Instead, I’ll share what I’m drinking with each post and hope you enjoy!
This morning’s tea: TAZO Awake – not bad for an English Breakfast Tea
And in case you like the mug: Women’s Rights
